Executive Board
Parent involvement has been, and continues to be, vitally important to the success of our school. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) does its part by improving communication between the school and parents, raising funds for activities and enrichment, and creating continuity from year-to-year for parent volunteers.
Fulfilling the PTO's mission is the work of officers elected each spring by members of the organization (current teachers and parents / guardians of current students). The elected officers make up the Executive Board (EB). Our current officers are listed below, along with summaries of the varied responsibilities of board members. President
Leah Vickers
Parent to students in K and grade 3
Our President leads the school community and PTO in engagement, serves as a member of the School Leadership Team (SLT) and represents PS9 on the District 13 President’s Council
Vice President for Admin-PTO Coordination

Parent to a students in pre-K and grade 2
Our Vice President for Administration-PTO Coordination assists the Parent Coordinator with communication and execution of school events and fundraisers, supports Parent-Teacher Liaisons and Class Leads
Vice President for Events
Aleicia Hutchinson
Parent to student in grade 1
Our Vice President for Events leads the Events committee and is responsible for the planning and execution of all community, non-fundraising events
Vice President for Fundraising

Parent to a student in grade 1
Our Vice President for Fundraising chairs the Fundraising committee, spearheads PTO fundraising efforts and leads the planning and execution of fundraising events
Treasurer

Our Treasurer chairs the Budget committee, prepares financial reports, makes disbursements as properly authorized, assures that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds
Financial Secretary

Our Financial Secretary works closely with the Treasurer and receives duplicates of all receipts to be maintained
First Recording Secretary
Olivia Basu
Parent to a student in kindergarten
Our First Recording Secretary maintains the official record of all proceedings and actions of all organization meetings. Maintains PTO membership, volunteer, and meeting attendance lists
Second Recording Secretary

Our Second Recording Secretary assists the First Recording Secretary in maintaining the official record of all proceedings and actions of all organization meetings, distributes information on upcoming events, and maintains the PTO bulletin board
Corresponding Secretary

Our Corresponding Secretary chairs the Communications committee, maintains all master documents, creates annual and monthly calendars, and manages and orders supplies for the PTO office

Our Lower Grade Parent-Teacher Liaison acts as a liaison between teachers and the PTO to help communicate the needs of the teachers, students, and their parents for grades pre-k through 5

Our Upper Grade Parent-Teacher Liaison acts as a liaison between teachers and the PTO to help communicate the needs of the teachers, students, and their parents for grades 3 to 5
Parliamentarian

Our Parliamentarian chairs the Governance committee, monitors meeting procedure and ensures everyone has a turn to speak
Elections
Elections take place at the last PTO meeting of the school year, and all voting must be done in person. Following the Regulation of the Chancellor A-660, the only qualification to run is that the candidate is a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child in the school. Terms are one year long, from July 1st to the following June 30th. For further details, consult the PTO bylaws.
