Family Reading & Math Buddies are volunteers for bi-weekly Friday reading and/or math fun in classrooms. Volunteers can participate in many different ways: read aloud to students individually, in small groups or to the class, listen to children read aloud, and facilitate math activities or games. To volunteer, email our Parent Coordinator, Charmaine Derrell-Jacob, at cderrell@schools.nyc.gov.
Get Involved!
At PS9, we have a strong community of parent volunteers who make the school a better place and have a lot of fun doing it! Throughout the year we run a variety of fundraisers and we need your help. There are many opportunities to get involved – pick one, or pick many!
Join a PTO Committee
PTO committees are an important part of making the school run, and there’s a committee for every skill and interest. Check out our current committees and contact information to get involved.
Become a Class Parent
Each classroom needs a class parent! Class parents facilitate communication between the teacher and parents, attend school meetings, volunteer as needed in the class, and help on class trips when available.
To volunteer:
- Contact your child’s teacher
- Email our Parent Coordinator, Charmaine Derrell-Jacob at cderrell@schools.nyc.gov
Check our school calendar to see when the next class parent meeting takes place!
