President: leads the school community and PTO in engagement, serves as a member of the SLT and represents PS9 on the D13 President’s Council
Vice-President for Administration-PTO Coordination: assists the Parent Coordinator with communication and execution of school events and fundraisers, supports Parent-Teacher Liaisons and Class Leads
Vice-President for Events: leads the planning and execution of all community, non-fundraising events
Vice President for Fundraising: chair of the Fundraising committee, spearheads PTO fundraising efforts and leads the planning and execution of fundraising events
Treasurer: chair of the Budget committee, prepares financial reports, makes disbursements as properly authorized, assures that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds.
Financial Secretary: works with the Treasurer and receives duplicates of all receipts to be maintained
First Recording Secretary: maintains the official record of all proceedings and actions of all association meetings. Maintains PTO membership, volunteer, and meeting attendance lists and coordinates with moderator of family listserv to invite new members.
Second Recording Secretary: assists the First Recording Secretary in maintaining the official record of all proceedings and actions of all association meetings, distributes information on upcoming events, and maintains the PTO bulletin board.
Corresponding Secretary: chair of the Communications committee, maintains all master documents, creates annual and monthly calendars, and manages and orders supplies for the PTO office.
Second Corresponding Secretary: maintains all master documents, creates annual and monthly calendars, and manages and orders supplies for the PTO office.
Lower Grade Parent-Teacher Liaison: acts as a liaison between teachers and the PTO to help communicate the needs of the teachers, students, and their parents for grades 3 through 5.
Upper Grade Parent-Teacher Liaison: acts as a liaison between teachers and the PTO to help communicate the needs of the teachers, students, and their parents for grades pre-k to 2.
Parliamentarian: chair of the Governance committee, monitors meeting procedure and ensures everyone has a turn to speak.
Parent involvement has been, and continues to be, vitally important to the success of our school. The PTO does its part by improving communication between the school and parents, raising funds, and creating continuity from year-to-year for parent volunteers. Please consider running for a position to become an even more active member of the PS9 community!
Elections take place at the last PTO meeting, and all voting must be done in person. Following the Regulation of the Chancellor A-660, the only qualification to run is that the candidate is a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child in the school. Terms are one year long, from July 1st to the following June 30th. For further details, consult the PTO By-laws.
