*These officers are mandatory and must be elected in order to have a functioning PTO.
Pursuant to the Chancellor’s Regulations of the NYC Department of Education, the only qualification to be nominated for an executive position on the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is that the candidate be a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child in the school. Officers serve one-year terms.
2022-2023 SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT) PARENT REPRESENTATIVE POSITIONS
For school year 2022-2023, there will be one (1) SLT (School Leadership Team) Parent Representative position open for a two-year term.
Pursuant to the NYCDOE Chancellor’s Regulations, each school must have a SLT comprising an equal number of parents of children enrolled in the school and staff members of the school. The principal, president of the PTO, and UFT Chapter President are standing members of the SLT.
The PS 9 community represents a multiplicity of life experiences and perspectives on issues of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, language, experiences of immigration, gender, disability, religion, and family diversity. The PTO and SLT Nominations Committee encourages candidates from this wide range of diverse identities, as we work toward creating a more just and inclusive society for all of our children.
