PTA 5K: No Runner Left Behind

scooters and strollers welcome
displaying their medals
quite the crowd: 24+ schools on site

Despite the rain, the fear of blinding downpours, flash floods and hail, the PTA 5K went on as scheduled.

The fun run is sponsored by District 39’s Councilmember Brad Lander. (PS 9 is located in District 35, represented by Councilmember Letitia James). The event is designed to raise money in support of all Brooklyn PTAs/PTOs to be split among them.

According to event details posted on nycruns, the race was created with this mission in mind:

“Potential budget cuts in Albany threaten not only after-school enrichment activities but also many of the core programs our children rely upon in their schools. This  fundraiser is our way, as defenders of public education, to come together and take action in support of our kids’ schools.”

It was a fun, energizing event and a successful one for PS 9. With over 20 registrants, we are in line to receive a portion of the money raised. Thank you to all the families who signed up to be counted. Go Team PS 9!
