On Thursday, September 27, some lucky PS 9 students got to go to the Brooklyn Public Library. This wasn’t the usual neighborhood field trip for Ms. Soso’s 2nd-grade class, though. When they got to the library, NBC News special correspondent Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, was there to greet them.
Chelsea read two books to the kids: Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman and The Gingerbread Boy by Paul Galdone. She also asked the children what their favorite books were. Replies from Ms. Soso’s class included the George O’Connor Greek mythology series, Bedtime for Frances, among others. The event was sponsored by NBC News’s Education Nation initiative, which aims to get people talking about solutions to the state of education in the U.S. Meanwhile, the state of education in Prospect Heights looks to be… awesome!
