At PS 9, our focus is on creating community and encouraging parent involvement. All parents are automatically members of our dynamic Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), so the PTO is YOU. And you are crucial to the school’s success.  We all have something to give, and our PTO’s efforts support the school in two key ways: making school and community events happen through volunteerism, and raising money for supplies, arts enrichment and more.

You’ll see PTO members decorating the auditorium for performances,  serving snacks at school celebrations, and planting bulbs in the school gardens (pictured at right). PTO success stories include our state-of-the-art library and our gorgeous playground. Thanks to PTO fundraisers, including our popular Friday Movie Nights and House Concerts featuring PS 9 parents who are professional musicians, we have been able to maintain an impressive roster of arts enrichment programming, despite deeper and deeper budget cuts.

PTO members also identify and apply for the grants that help us enhance your child’s education. If you want to get really meta, a PTO committee created this website! For more information about the many committees you can join, click here. We want to get to know you and we need your help!
