Welcome to the New Spring 2018 PACC Specialized Workshops.
Sign up is available until March 29th 2018. Enrollment is first come, first-served until full. If you revisit the form and the workshop is no longer listed, that means it is full. You will receive confirmation April 6th 2018 with times and days for your workshops.
All Payments are due April 9th NO EXCEPTIONS. If payment is not made by April 9th your child will not be able to participate.
You can pay via Chase Quickpay or place a check for the full amount in the PACC dropbox behind the door in the main office. Please make sure to note your child’s name on your payment. You cannot pay for Specialized workshops with Paypal or Cash. It will be returned.
Please note that parents will need to register and pay the $40 annual registration fee with PACC After-School to participate in the workshops, if you have not already done so. If your child does not participate in the PACC general program on the workshop’s designated day, you must pick your child up immediately after their workshop. Late pickups from the enrichment class will be charged $25 fee for After school.

CrossFit Kingsboro Kids $175 for a 7 week session, 1 hour lesson Tuesdays 3pm-4pm Kindergarten- 2nd Grade or 4pm-5pm 3rd-5th Grade CrossFit is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. The program is for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socioeconomic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives. http://www.crossfitkingsboro.com
Garden Workshop $175 for a 7 week session, 1 hour 10 min lesson Thursdays 3pm-4:10pm Kindergarten -2nd Grade or 4:15pm- 5:25pm 3rd-5th Grade. PACC gardening kids will be busy in spring! We’ll be planting vegetables, visiting the community garden, learning about native and invasive plants, edible and poisonous weeds, feeding carnivorous plants, and studying bees, butterflies and other neighborhood creatures
BRICKS 4 KIDZ, $165 for a 7 week session, 1 hour lesson Tues Kindergarten 3pm- 4pm for 1st-3rd grade 4pm-5pm. Pre K Thurs 3pm-4pm This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® bricks, using one-of-a-kind model plans designed by Bricks 4 Kidz®. While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. A new project is built each week. Classes begin with a teacher-led discussion related to the day’s model. Once the project is completed, students use the rest of their time to expand their gadgets and collaborate with one another. PIANO SCHOOL OF NYC, $180 for a 7 week session, 30 min lessons, Mon or Wed from 3pm for all grades. All students are encouraged to learn basic Music & Piano Skills: Introduction to Piano, listening, singing, clapping, followed by note reading & writing, Music Theory, Music History, Piano/Keyboard skills, and more. SOCCER, $200 for a 7 week session, 45 min class, PreK-Kindergarten Wed 4pm-4:45pm, 45 min class, 1st-3rd Grade Wed 4:45pm-5:30pm Soccer Shots is the premier children’s soccer experience for children 2-8 with a focus on character development. MIXED MEDIA ART & DECOUPAGE, $175 for a 7 week session, 1 hr 15 min class, Mon or Wed 3pm-4:15pm, PreK- 3rd Grade. Come join the fun and pave your way to originality, creativity and expression through art! While using imagination, your child will learn basic techniques in mixed media art & découpage. Children will use studio-quality materials including tempera, acrylics, watercolor, oil & chalk pastels, collage, découpage and more, while exploring their own creativity through art. Recycled materials are used in appreciation for saving our environment for the future. For those students wishing to repeat a series, all art lessons and crafts are always new and unique!. CLAY WORLD, $225 for a 7 week session, 1 hour lesson, 3pm-4pm, Wed or Fri, Kindergarten-5th Grade.Clay World explores the art of Clay Modeling and Character Design. This artistic class helps student’s improve their creativity, fine motor skills and artistic capabilities. Monsters, Fairies, animals, backdrops and all sorts of creatures will hand built to create an amazing Clay World. NEW YORK CHESS & GAMES, $140 for a 7 week session, 1 hour lesson, Fri 3:30pm-4:30pm, 1st-5th Grades Whether introducing beginner students to the game or enhancing and developing the play of experienced students, NYCG’s curriculum is taught in a fun and engaging way. The instructors are patient, friendly and have years of experience teaching chess to children. ADVANCE PIANO, $175 for a 7 week session, 30 min lesson , Tues 3pm onward or Fri 4pm onward, All Grades. Advance Piano is a class where 2 students will learn music theory, proper performing techniques on the instrument, playing individually and together (as in a duet). Students will also get finger exercises for strengthening and chord study for improvisation. They will learn their music well enough to be able to perform in an end of school year recital
Clay Animation – Clay Modeling & Stop-motion by Clay World $225 for a 7 week session, 1 hour lesson, Tues 3pm-4pm, Kindergarten-5th Grade. Clay World explores the art of Clay Animation, Clay Modeling and Stop Motion Techniques. This artistic class helps student’s improve their creativity, fine motor skills and artistic capabilities. MUSICSTART $125 for a 7 week session on Tuesdays,1 hour lesson 3pm-4pm K- 2nd Grade Both new and repeat students are welcome, and will be appropriately challenged. MusicStart® is a patented progressive music learning system that balances fun and development of skills. Using familiar songs, it teaches all the necessary basics to get started playing music. SEWING $180 for a 7 week session on Thursdays, 1 hour lesson4pm-5pm 2nd Grade- 5th Grade In this series of sewing classes with Brooklyn Craft Farm, students will be introduced to a variety of hand and embroidery stitches, pattern making skills, and finishing techniques. We will spend each session creating fun fashion accessories, projects to decorate your bedroom, not to mention always having fun with the process! Sewing is a fun and practical skill to learn, plus a wonderful way to develop creativity, enhance focus, and boost self confidence.
EZRA GUITAR $180 for a 7 week session on Thursdays, 40 Min classes starting from 3pm for all Grades. EzraGuitar is a guitar program designed to give kids the opportunity to study with some of the greatest classical guitarists in the country while using a method of learning designed especially for them. Our group classes are the core of the EzraGuitar method. These classes are built on the philosophy of Maoz Ezra, that music should be taught in the “language of children” and tailored to their natural abilities. By studying with this method and philosophy, it is our goal that children will connect to music making in a natural and organic way. Through creative games and ensemble work, children will leave each lesson with a sense of accomplishment and musical knowledge that will remain with them as a foundation for any future musical endeavors.
MANDARIN $165 for a 7 week session on Thursdays, 1 hour lesson 3:15pm-4:15pm PreK-1st Grades. This class combines songs, movement, art and crafts, and language activities to create a Mandarin Chinese-learning experience unlike any other. This class is designed to foster an interest in foreign languages and cultures, as well as to promote the development of a child’s linguistic abilities. In addition to learning basic vocabulary words and phrases (e.g. colors, numbers, animals etc.), all after school students will read a book from our signature Lango Kids series. These books follow the Lango Kids–Wen, Luc and Lucia–their teacher and Cosmo the dog on their various adventures throughout the Chinese-speaking worlds. Each story focuses on a specific set of specialized vocabulary and usually contains a sweet and simple moral. This semester Chinese students are headed to a city, reading “An Adventure in the City.”
ADVENTURES IN MYTHOLOGY, $135 for a 7 week session on Thursdays 3pm-4pm K-2nd Grade or 4:10pm-5:10pm 3rd-5th grade – Adventures in Mythology is an afterschool dive into the world of ancient myths and stories across many cultures, including Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, and more. Offered by Plato Learning, the same company behind Camp Half-Blood Brooklyn, the AiM afterschool program activates students’ imaginations and takes them on a week-to-week culminating journey as Demigods through a world of heroes, monsters and magic. Each week is a new chapter in our own original class story, with activities ranging from imaginative role-play games to sword-training to armor design and crafting projects to epic Quest adventures, all under the mission of helping every Demigod student to become the hero they were always meant to be.
Food Arts and Science, $175 for a 7 week session on Wednesdays 3pm-4:20pm Kindergarten-2nd Grade or Thursdays 3pm-4:20pm 3rd-5th Grade Want to play with your food? And learn about it ? P.S. 9 parent Jill Santopietro will bring multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary food labs to students through this entertaining and educational after-school workshop. Children will explore foods that they use often but perhaps know little about.Some of our labs explore foods including: corn, wheat, eggs, milk, oil, chocolate, semolina, herbs, spices, potatoes, oats, and other vegetables and fruits.In our corn lab, for example, students learn how corn was first grown by the Mayans and they explore the biology of the plant. They pull dried kernels off of dent corn, make corn husk dolls, pop popcorn from a cob, grind corn kernels, and turn them into masa dough and then into corn tortillas. The labs allows students to touch, taste, smell, hear, and see their food – to create a deeper connection to the food that is so important to the health of their bodies and the environment.Jill Santopietro is a food instructor to children and adults, writer, and recipe developer. http://www.jillsantopietro.com/
All Classes are held at PS9. Your child will be picked up from their classroom and brought to PACC until the classes start. If you have signed up for after school then your child will be returned to PACC, Tennis or Kids Orbit. If they are not signed up for after school, you must pick your child up after their class.
