The AfterSchool programs are developed and operated by the PS 9 PTO for families who need care beyond the regular school day. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children within the PS 9 community. Students must be registered to attend. We have paid staff, but we also need parent volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering your time to share an interest, talent, hobby or skill, please let us know. Your time will be greatly appreciated and helps us to keep costs low. Volunteers may participate for as little as one hour per week (knitting, music, dance, robots).
PLEASE NOTE: Children cannot participate until their completed forms have been received. Online form is below. Be sure to press the “submit” button after entering your information!

AfterSchool
Pickup and care from the time your child is dismissed from school (whether at 2:40 or 3:30) until 6 pm.
Our AfterSchool program offers a variety of activities for students in grades Pre-K through 5th. Students are in the continuous care of PS 9 parents, as well as PS 9 teachers and other qualified professional staff. Students are grouped in three sections, by age: Pre-K and K, 1st and 2nd grades, and 3rd-5th grades.
Pre-K and K are picked up at 2:40 and given snack and story time. They then transfer to the pre-K room where they do an arts & craft activity. From 4:30 to 5 they have gym time. At 5, another art activity. 5:30 to 6, quiet time for coloring or stories.
1st and 2nd grade are picked up at 3:20. They have snack, then homework time until 5 pm. 5-6 is gym time. Teachers are available for homework help and to play games or provide enrichment activities for those who have finished their homework.
3rd-5th grades are picked up at 3:20. They have snack, then homework time until 5:30 pm. 5:30-6 is gym time. Teachers are available for homework help and to play games or provide enrichment activities for those who have finished their homework.
